PSU football great Michael Mauti explains how NIL efforts are moving forward after tumultuous spring

Former Penn State All-American linebacker Michael Mauti joins the Post-Gazette's Adam Bittner to discuss his work to improve Penn State's name, image and likeness (NIL) efforts after struggles in that area contributed to the departure of basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry back in March, prompting heavy criticism of administration and donors.

Michael explains how stakeholders in the athletics program overcame philosophical differences and started working toward the same NIL goals via the Happy Valley United collective that was formed as part of a merger between the Success With Honor collective and Michael's Lions Legacy Club.

He also touches on how Happy Valley United is looking to educate fans and donors on how NIL efforts can conform to Penn State's values in a modern college sports landscape before getting into a little football talk about the Nittany Lions' College Football Playoff hopes in 2024.
